Monday Movies: Say What?

monday movies hosted by Molly at the Bumbles

Today's Topic is . . . all about bad accents.

Molly asks us to look at films made on location in our spot of the world and post about those who attempted to speak the local vernacular and botched it.  I'm from Utah, where a lot of westerns are filmed . . . and shows about aliens . . . so my nomination for worst accent goes to

Planet of the Apes

we don't speak ape in Utah

the half naked Charlsten Heston kissing an ape (oooh yuck)

I'm sure Micheal Jackson wasn't in the movie but I thought this picture was funny.

We have had some pretty great movies made in our state, here is a link to the list at wikipedia.

And you can view a post I made about films made in Utah here

I would tell you exactly how funny I found the MJ/Planet of the Apes photo, but I'm afraid I'll burn in hell. (Thanks for making me smile.)

We don't speak ape here in NJ either!! And that juxtaposition of Mr. Jackson and the apes is just too freaky!

I'm from the south, so I couldn't even begin to compose a list of movies with bad accents! But I just had to comment because your last photo is uncanny!!

I agree, Heston kissing the ape is not appealing!
Love the list of movies made in Utah. I didn't realize it would be such a long list.

Bad accent or bad movie? I am so totally not a Planet of the Apes fan. A pity as I love SF, but I just could never get into it.

I know, that poor ape who had to kiss Charlton! LOL. I'm particularly fond of Footloose since I live so close to where it was filmed now!!! Go Utah.

That movie gave me the creeps and I wouldn't watch it when it came out...I was scared by the apes!!

Oh Kaye - that is so funny!!! I have seen pieces of that movie at many different stages of my life and not once did I think it was entertaining or normal - I pretty much had the same YUCK reaction you did :0)

That last set of photos was hysterical.

Here in Israel they use subtitles. We can always tell when a character is speaking gibberish instead of whatever language - the subtitles are missing!
