Teaser Tuesday: Curly Grandma's Letters

Curly Grandma's Letters:Writing to Kids and Capturing your Autobiography

by

Anita Bryce

"Your everyday activities make for some very inspiring stories that riddle a letter with fun and intrigue. Therefore, both kinds of letters, friendly and autobiographical, are well appreciated by grandchildren. The only thing that really matters is that you pick up the pen . . . and write!"

That;'s a thought. Pick up a pen and write; even if the grandchild is only 3, the parents can read it to her, and translate. Nice tease. Here's mine.

I will look for this book - we're trying to build school-parish relations, and one of the parents came up with the idea of having a pen pal box in the church where the kids from school and the older parishoners could write back and forth. This might help me get the idea started.

Very good advice!

Some excellent advice! I was working with my mom on filling in the book Grandma Remembers before she died, a present for my niece. We didn't make it all the way through, but I know what was filled in will be treasured, as will all the cards she sent.

Watching Mr. Al do his research for his history blogs has made me realize how important old letters can be. Much of what we know of historical figures comes from them.

That's so wonderful, and so true! I used to love getting letters from my grandmothers. Just wish I had saved more of them! Great teaser.

Here's my teaser for Banned Books Week.

How true is that?? I'm going to be getting back into letter writing when my oldest son is at boot camp. I hope to write letters to my grandchildren one day...I think that would be a special thing to do.

Can't argue with that.

My mother's handwriting is barely legible at the best of times, so not sure how she would go with this!

Does sound like a fab idea though.

Thanks for visiting my teaser.

How true! I wish all those tales my great-grandmother told me she had written as well. :)

So true. I need to start writing to my older grandchildren regularly.
My mom was a wonderful grandmother and would write about the lizard she'd seen on her fence, or the squirrels in her garden - and she'd somehow manage to make it fascinating to my kids!
