Sepia Scenes # 17 and Window View #13: Joseph and Emma

This statue is in the Women's Garden at the LDS Visitor's Center in Nauvoo Illinois. It is a likeness of Joseph and Emma Smith. I am currently reading a book about Emma, and have a lot of admiration for her strength and courage. The windows in the background are the back wall of the visitors center, from inside they offer a magnificent view of the garden.

The bronze statues are accented by the pale bronze sepia in the background. Simple and beautiful the whole scene is here!

My mother used to tell me that we were related to Joseph Smith. Hmm she and several generations back were born in SLC.

I don't know for sure or care. Anyway it's a very nice picture. :-)

I've seen this statue on another blog in recent months, only it was in SLC; evidently there is one identical in Temple Square. I like your sepia version!

Very nice. I like the placement of the statue too.

Kaye, could you do me a favor? Next time you come to visit, please put your link into the field for it, making sure there is a "http://" in front of the "ladygladrielkj". It's out of whack and I can't seem to fix it from my end.

Yes! That took care of it. Thank you.

The statue is wondeful - The draping fabric, the tendrils of her hair! The sepia helps define it all.
The arch of the windows serve as a perfect backdrop as well.
